COLOMBIA
Officially the Republic of Colombia, this country is uniquely located on both the Pacific and Caribbean coast in the northwestern corner of South America.
Colombia is blessed by great diversity, with six distinct natural regions, each with its own characteristics, traditions, climate, music, and gastronomy!
The Caribbean, Pacific coast, Amazon, Orinoco River basin, the insular (islands), and finally the Andean region which runs through the center of the country from the southwest into the northeast,
Bogota, the National Capital, lies in the Andean region on a high plateau over 2,600 meters above sea level. A huge and multicultural city, it is a center for government and cultural life.
Over centuries of forced migration through slavery alongside voluntary migration, people with European and African heritage have landed on Colombia’s shores. Regional culture often represents a blend of these backgrounds meeting with the native populations, resulting in a huge variety of cultural traditions, especially dance, music, and cuisine!

Did you know...
Our trips are created in collaboration with and led by locals! Travelers will spend their days with people from the local community who kindly invite you to experience being in this lively and welcoming place and to learn a bit of its history.
But the most meaningful part of your journey is the invitation to connect with people that make it so incredibly special!
ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS
How long do you suggest for a trip that includes at least two different cities or regions?
It really depends on how much time you have set aside for this trip, how much you want to cover, and what is a comfortable pace for you to move about. We usually advise from 9 - 12 nights if you plan to visit multiple regions. Much of this recommendation will depend upon the pace you like to travel, and what you are interested in doing with your time. For example, if you want to visit more remote places, more time may be required to get there, and then to return to a main transportation hub. That said, we always encourage travel that is slow, and intentional to allow travelers to have a more meaningful experience.
What airport is best to arrive into?
It depends on your specific trip details, however Colombia has several international airports offering direct flights to the USA, as well as many smaller airports tat service regional flights for intra-country travel.
What currency is used in Colombia?
The Colombian Peso, currency code COP.
What kind of traveler does CTC work with?
We welcome all travelers, this means solo, couples, trios, groups - you name it! Most of the folks with design for are traveling with just one or two other people. We have lots of expertise in travel design for just 1-2 travelers and know how to capture the essence of immersive travel for travel groups of every size!

We also work with travel agents, and small group trip leaders to design something really customized and special for their travelers. Travel agents know their clients, and are deeply in touch with what they will enjoy, and we are deeply connected to the destination, so this makes for a dream team!

We also love to design for groups, but really encourage folks to keep their groups small, no more than 14 people. Group travel because it's a great way to have a private, fully curated experience at a great value, plus the immersive experiences work beautifully when sharing with a group.
